Process overview
Brazing is a joining technique for metals or ceramics using a metal with a lower melting point than either of the materials to be joined. While brazing could be done by hand or machine in open air, furnace brazing requires a controlled atmosphere.
BOC’s Gas and Equipment Solutions
BOC is a world leading supplier of specialist gases and mixtures for brazing. We supply nitrogen, nitrogen / hydrogen mixtures and specialist additives based on your requirements.
Brazing - HYDROFLEX®
The HYDROFLEX® technical application is a controlled atmosphere system for bright annealing and brazing of stainless steels and copper. Nitrogen and hydrogen based atmospheres are deployed via the HYDROFLEX® control cabinet, flow train, analysers and nitrogen and hydrogen supply schemes. The patented Atmosphere Zoning Technology gives precise control of different atmosphere zones in different parts of the continuous furnace.
Typical benefits from HYDROFLEX®:
Optimised / Lower gas consumption
Consistent dimensional changes and surface hardness
Longer mesh belt and muffle life
Bright parts
Enhanced cutting tool life in down stream operations
Lower rejection costs
The value of these benefits has in many cases been found to far exceed the gas cost.
