A request to alter your ordering patterns
`
If you have been affected, we would like to apologise and assure you that we fully understand the impact of increased and uncertain lead times and are proactively pursuing multiple avenues to mitigate these issues.
The challenges we are facing directly relate to a significant increase in demand across all our customer sectors and the lack of availability of drivers to make deliveries. Like many fleet operators, BOC is currently hampered by a significant shortage of lorry drivers in the UK. The UK Road Haulage Association has indicated that the shortages have been made worse by 15,000 EU lorry drivers returning to mainland Europe following the end of the Brexit transition.
A key driver of our capacity is the number of deliveries we do each day, rather than the size of each order. Based on an analysis of ordering patterns, you have been identified as a customer that, by making changes to how much you order and when, can potentially help alleviate the delivery situation.
With immediate effect, we kindly ask that you more cylinders at least half as often. Please see the examples below.
If you normally order 1 large cylinder (product codes 569-K, 564-N, 565-N or 566-N), then please order at least 2.
If you normally order 1 or 2 small cylinders, (product codes 569-E, 569-B, 569-SB, 569-R, 564-V, 564-S, 565-V, 564-S, 566-V or 566-S) then please order at least 3.
Orders for lower quantities may be refused.

As we work through this challenging situation, we thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support.
